With so much going on this month (and my attempts at cloning still unsuccessful), I have a lot on my review and watchlist coming out of the Dynamic Communities Summit North America and Microsoft Ignite events happening this week in Orlando, Seattle and online. If you have not already checked out the sites, it's not too late to register for free digital access to Ignite and browse the recorded sessions available with a Streaming + On Demand pass for the Summit.
I've opted to stay closer to home and attend Stetson's National Conference on Special Needs Planning and Special Needs Trusts in St. Petersburg. This will be my first time attending and looking forward to the opportunity to meet some of my professors and LL.M. classmates I've only met virtually so far.
While there are a number of topics in the 2-day conference of interest to those involved in Elder Law and Special Needs Planning, there are several pre-conference programs focused on Tax Law, Pooled Trusts, Social Security and Veterans benefits in particular.
Remember, it's never too early to start planning ahead for yourself or a loved one to be able to retire well. To learn more, reach out to a member of the Florida Bar's Elder Law Section or National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys in your area.
And for those facing challenges recovering from the impact of Hurricane Ian, free legal assistance may be available. The Florida Bar YLD Disaster Legal Services Team, in conjunction with the ABA Young Lawyers Division and FEMA, has a hotline at 866-550-2929 that can match you with a pro bono volunteer. More information is available through the probono.net Hurricane Ian Legal Aid site. You can also find more hurricane-related resources through the Florida Bar Foundation.
Stay safe and be well.
